Marseille
Although part of the region of Provence, Marseille has a soul of its own. Founded in 600 B.C. by the Greek sailors of Phocaea, this great city is the oldest in France and surely the most complex. Second largest city in France, Marseille was the gateway to the Mediterranean. Today Marseille remains a capitol of southern Europe, cosmopolitan and exuberant, with its picturesque old port, its Bouillabaisse and its folklore.
Cassis
This little seaside resort is snuggled at the foot of a very tall cliff called Cap Canaille. Cassis is a wonderful place to stroll about with its picturesque fishing port lined with cafes and restaurants. The city built with its streets going up and down has lovely old quarters with an elegant hotel de Ville on the shady square, where the inhabitants came to cool off and play "petanque" on summer nights!
Bandol wine area
Bandol's port is fitted out to shelter 1,500 boats of all sizes: yachts, great sailing vessels and professional fishing boats. The vineyards of Bandol are famous: - The red wines are powerful but velvety.
- The roses are fruity and racy.
- The whites, full bodied and fine.
So, whatever the colour, the wines of Bandol are amongst the best of the Midi and even of France.

The Route des Crêtes
The route des Cretes high above the sea offers very impressive views and has a fabulous panorama of the area. This road links Cassis to La Ciotat and follows along the cliffs Soubeyranes. Above these clifts are the famous calanques or inlets that go all the way to Marseille.
